Dream House

They say there’s nothing else like a mother’s love. I’d say a grandma’s love is just as great.

Often times we forget to thank the people around us for the service and love they offer, unconditionally even. We’ve gotten used to their presence, we think it’s an entitlement. But seeing the love between a lola and her apo is a sweet, heart-warming eye-opener.

So allow me to thank you, Mommy, for all the love and sacrifices you have given us your kids, and now to your grandchildren including Dana. May God continue to bless you, strengthen you, and give you the desires of your heart. I love you.

So tonight let me share with you a poem we wrote for lola Jenny around 2 years ago, inspired by one of her conversations with our little one. It’s in Filipino though:

PARA KAY LOLA

Ako ay mayroong lola
Generosa ang ngalan niya
Araw-araw ako’y kanyang alaga
Pagod ay hindi nya alintana

Minsan kong sa kanya’y sinabi
Sa paligsahan ako’y sasali
Nang ako’y manalo ng salapi
At ang “dream house” nya’y aking mabili

Mahigpit ako’y niyakap nya
Bakas ko sa kanyang mga mata
Magkahalong lungkot at saya
Sabay kanyang winika na —

“Salamat sa iyo, o aking apo,
Si lola ay pinaligaya mo
Subalit sapat nang nabatid ko
Na ako ay minamamahal mo

Palagi mo lang tatandaan
Buhay ko ay aking ilalaan
Mula sa pagligpit ng ‘yong mga laruan
Hanggang sa pag-ilaw ng ‘yong kinabukasan

Kaya ang panalangin ko palagi
Magkasama tayo hanggang sa ‘yong paglaki
Mayroon man o wala mang salapi

Isang magandang hinaharap
Sing tamis ng kangyang yakap

“Dream house” ni lola at iba pa
Ay aking ibibigay sa kanya
Bilang tanda ng aking paggunita
Sa kanyang mabuting pag-aaruga

Sabagkat nababatid ko na
Habang sya ay aking inaalala
Ako man ay laman ng puso’t isip nya
Minamahal, nagmamahal sa isa’t isa.

“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Proverbs 31:30

We love you.

We are proud of you.

We appreciate you.

So much, Mommy, so much.

I’m a mommy now but I am blessed to still have you baby me. Thank you uli. I love you ulit!

To God be the glory! 😍
